It’s no secret that our To-Do lists are long and schedules are tight, but once in awhile, it helps to take a break (and a deep breath) to appreciate what we have. Summit Group has made that a major initiative this year, hosting fundraisers for several clients that are national non-profit organizations as well as encouraging volunteer days for the associates.
Our first Summit Volunteer Day was scheduled on Thursday, July 31st at the Children’s National Medical Center. Summit Group’s DC office visited the hospital for a Patient Playdate where associates set up various craft stations for the patients and families to enjoy. The hours flew by as children and their families dropped by to see what activities the Summiteers had prepared for them. The smiles and laughter were heart-warming, making it difficult to say good bye as the day came to a close. This certainly won’t be our last Patient Playdate considering we had just as much fun as the children did!
That day we all learned a valuable lesson. While remaining productive at work and staying on top of our To-Do lists are both very important, it’s also rewarding to take time out for others. Being able to make someone’s day even the slightest bit better makes it all worthwhile.
