The Chicago Special Olympics Polar Plunge was just in the nick of time to still be crazy cold before the warmer temps moved in. Local celebrities as well as some of the paparazi’s favorites can be spotted taking a dunk in the chilly Lake Michigan waters each year. This year was no different. The town was (and is still) abuzz about Vince Vaughn (a native Chicagoan) and his plans to be there. Unexpected celebs, Lady Gaga, actor (and Gaga’s fiance) Taylor Kinney and a number of other Chicago Fire actors also braved the the cold in style. For many years Summit Group’s, Dan Lehr, has been a proud partner to Special Olympics Chicago and Susan Nicholl, Executive Director. This year the Summit team provided stadium cups, drawsting nylon “plunge” bags, powerbanks and magnets touting “I survived!”. Some of these items can be found on the Special Olympics Chicago shop.
The annual event helped raise over $1.1 million dollars to benefit the Special Olympics of Chicago.
