If I were to ask you what LeBron James and our client Goodyear Tires have in common, what would you say?
Think about it….
Did you guess that both are “Akron Born”? If so, that would be the correct answer and both are being talked about, albeit for slightly different reasons.
Goodyear’s director of North America marketing, Seth Klugherz, commented that “Akron is a special place and Goodyear wants to celebrate the great things that are born here” like LeBron James, who recently helped the Cleveland Cavaliers win their first NBA Championship since 1964; Goodyear Tires, which began in Akron in 1898; and the 321 babies born at Summa Akron City Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Akron General and Akron Children’s Hospital during the Cavs-Warriors championship series.
To celebrate all things “Akron Born”, Goodyear Tires ran a promotion where families whose babies were born at those Akron-based medical facilities during the aforementioned time period received a “Most Valuable Ride” care package which included a set of Goodyear tires, an “AkronBorn” onesie provided by Summit Group and a brand-new infant car seat. New parents were ecstatic to receive the care package from Goodyear Tires and felt even more proud to be part of the Akron community.
Goodyear is an exceptional client and one that evidently cares a tremendous amount about the safety and well-being of others. We truly admire this about them and are thrilled we could be part of such a thoughtful campaign. So many great things have come out of Akron that it’s safe to say we’re a little jealous we can’t boast that we’re “Akron Born” ourselves!
