Why not replace Happy Meal toys with books, right?  That’s exactly what McDonald’s did starting November 1st, which just so happened to be National Literacy Day. According to a recent article published in Advertising Age®, the restaurant chain packaged “four original children’s books carrying a nutritional message Nov. 1 through Nov. 14 with its Happy Meals” in hopes of encouraging better eating habits and promoting literacy. It’s a clever way to promote McDonald’s brand all while demonstrating how powerful books can be for children.
