This week we are highlighting our Senior Account Executive at our DC location, Rick Morstein! Rick attended the University of Maryland and earned a BS in Journalism and Advertising. After college, he worked at Hecht’s Advertising Business Office in PO Management where he learned several lessons from his boss that he will never forget: “It doesn’t matter where you sit, or what your title is. What matters is what you bring home every two weeks” and “Always do whatever you are told by the person whose name is in the bottom right corner of your paycheck”.
Rick joined our team at Summit when conversing with his childhood friend, our very own Mark Becker, about the creation of a new position. Although his original job involved strictly Finance Administration and Operations, roles changed and he was given a chance to “try” Sales; he hasn’t looked back since! One of his greatest memories at Summit is when a fellow coworker was speaking with a client about $1 tradeshow items. No progress was being made so he whispered “Power Clips” several times but his coworker did not mention it until he practically leapt out of his chair and made his point known. They bought 75,000. (Perseverance is key!)
Believe it or not, Rick has hobbies outside of selling promotional products! He enjoys listening to music, mostly Classic Rock, and watching his favorite teams: Redskins, Nationals, Wizards, and Capitals. Family is a huge part of his life and being involved in his children, and now grandchildren’s lives, is a great joy and blessing. His proudest achievement is easily and without a doubt, watching his three children with his wife of almost thirty years, Jody, grow into wonderful, considerate, and educated adults.
Their daughter Ellen, a second grade teacher, and son-in-law Matt introduced two new members to the family last year when Ellen gave birth to twin boys. Rick and Jody also have two sons, Andrew and Joey. Andrew is a professional singer who participates in an A Capella group based out of Chicago (www.gentlemansrule.com, check it out!) and has also signed to a small record label in Nashville where he will be moving this summer. Their youngest, Joey, graduated recently from Indiana University and will be attending Graduate School this Fall at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He will pursue a Masters in Sports Administration and aspires to work in a college or university athletic department in the future.
Rick certainly has a lot to be proud of and look forward to, and we are glad to have him as a part of our own little family here at Summit!
Think we might be worthy of a conversation? We'd love to hear what you have in mind.
